Royal Court

The CHF Royal Court is composed of young people who are dedicated to preserving their heritage and learning more about it. Members of the Royal Court are anywhere between 6-20 years old and are crowned during Houby Days every year. They participate in a variety of events throughout the state, especially in Cedar Rapids and other Czech communities.

The Royal Court dates back to the 1980s with the start of the Czech Prince and Princess program for the Czech Heritage Foundation. As time went on, the Royal Court expanded to include little sisters and little brothers so younger kids could participate. Members of the Royal Court usually participate in other Czech activities throughout the area, such as Sokol, Svetlusky and Czech School.

The Royal Court participates in all Czech activities that are supported by the Czech Heritage Foundation. They appear in many parades, festivals, and other Czech events throughout the year and travel throughout Cedar Rapids and to other smaller Czech communities. Court members have the ability to reapply to the court year after year if they wish to continue learning about their heritage.
