Celebrating Cultural Diversity

The University of Iowa's Celebrating Cultural Diversity Festival was held on Sept. 29, 2013 at Hubbard Park in Iowa City. Kitty Chadima, chairperson, organized the Czech Heritage Foundation vendor tables for Czech food customs and culture. Joyce Netolicky, Zelda De Hoedt, Bonnie Rohlena, and Kitty Chadima provided a variety of Czech pastries.  Books and Czech Heritage Foundation newsletters were also available for purchase. Assisting at the table were Czech Prince Brennon Bell, 2012-2013 Miss Czech-Slovak Iowa Holly Stepanek, Kitty Chadima, Bonnie Rohlena and Marv Rohlena. Marge Nejdl decorated custom painted eggs. It was exciting to share our heritage with others as well as learning about the variety of other cultures represented at the event.
