Folk artist to visit Cedar Rapids, share art of egg decoration during Houby Days

The Czech Heritage Foundation of Iowa is sponsoring Czechoslovakian born Lenka Glassner, renowned folk artist and author, from the San Francisco Bay Area of California during the Houby Days festival.  Making her first ever visit to the Midwest, she is coming to share ancient skills and techniques passed through generations.  There will be a free afternoon of art on Monday, May 20, 2019, beginning 1:30 PM at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar Rapids. Classes are also available at two different times on Monday for those who wish to learn the art of egg decoration.

While here, she will take you on a journey of the colorful history, methods and traditions of Moravian egg art etching, including demonstration and a vast display of egg works of art, which will be available for purchase.  In addition, Lenka will be discussing her book “Czeching In”.
