Janna Waters was crowned Miss Czech-Slovak Iowa at the St. Joseph's Day Dance on March 16. Janna is the daughter of Pat & Joan Waters of Marshalltown. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2013 and is currently a graduate student. She works as a teaching assistant in the Department of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures, and she is the founder and president of the Czech Connection at the University of Iowa. Her future plans include obtaining a Ph.D. in Russian & Central Eastern European History and to teach at the university level.Megan Lehmann was crowned 1st Runner Up. Megan is the daughter of Steve and Karen Lehmann of Cedar Rapids. She is a senior at Kennedy High School. She plays the flute and clarinet, and has been involved in concert band and marching band. Megan plans to attend a university and major in biochemistry.Janna will go on to represent the Czech Heritage Foundation and the state of Iowa at the Miss Czech-Slovak US pageant in August.
